Challenge 28 : Fruit
We have a patch of derelict land at the back of our flats. We can already tell what sort of fruit we may be able to pick later this summer.

Phototime Tuesday - Aged

I decided to take a slight liberty with this weeks challenge. I've gone with words containing AGED.
ravaged - Laid to waste.
packaged - Contained. (Natural packaging)
packaged - Contained. (un-natural packaging)
garaged - vehicles housed in an appropriate building.
damaged - Not in perfect condition.
salvaged - saved from destruction for re-utilisation. (The Second Hand Shop)

Deco Building
As I mentioned yesterday, The Hoover Building is famous, but on the opposite corner is this tiled bulding, now rather rundown, but just as interesting in it's own way. I might set myself the task of trying to research who had the building built.

The Hoover Building
The Hoover Building on the A40 into London is one of the best known Art Deco buildings in the area. There was another example a couple of miles away, The Firestone Building, which unfortunately "fell down" one holiday weekend after a demolition notice had been refused to a redevelopment company. The frontage is the well known face, but to the rear is an access to a Tesco supermarket which they spent a great deal of money on doing it up. I got to know the manager and was given a tour of some of the other buildings not generally open to the public, like the ballroom although the original interior is no longer there. As you will see there are many of the architectural features you would expect of a building of this period, with much use of the "odeon" styling.

Challenge 27 - Endings
This leaf is pretty near it's end now. It has spent it's life helping to maintain its host trees breathing, and in turn helped support ours. Now it is starting to crumble away, and with it's passing it will help form the nutrients which will nourish the tree for a new years growth of leaves, and has taken part in the lifecycle of all living things.

Phototime Tuesday - Ground Level
These seeds lay upon the ground but soon they will either have germinated or will rot to form another layer in the wood. The ground level keeps rising.

If the police want the public top believe that mobile speed cameras are only set up at accident blackspots and not as a source of catching motorists to boost revenue, they shouldn't bother placing cameras here with perfect driving conditions, with little traffic, on a straight road.
Luckily I know I was under the speed limit, but that was more to do with the cars cruising speed rather than my intent. If we'd been in our other car I would probably been doing around 80 on this road instead of the speed limit of 70.

The Jolly Boys Outing
On the way to the West Country today we stopped at Stonehenge for an ice-cream. This very rare photo of me (on the left) marks our usual practice of visiting somewhere and having a photo taken whilst eating the afore-mentioned confection. It also celebrates my 47 and 1/2 birthday.
The lamb in the field nearby was quite happy to have people near her/him and it's mother didn't seem too worried either. I suspect that might be because people feed them even though they shouldn't. Pity about the shadow from the fence putting it's face into shadow, but that was probably why it sat there.
