Inhabitants of the Local Lake
Taking a walk by Little Britain Lake to the west of London, swans and geese follow anyone who might be carrying food on them. The swans always glide so gracefully that it looks like the water is in motion whilst they stand still.

Memorial
On the top of Coopers Slopes, overlooking Runnymede, stands the Air Force Memorial. It commemorates the lives of over 20,000 Commonwealth Airmen who died during the Second World War but have no graves. The most moving thing of all are the small posies left by relatives who still remember them some 60 years on.
The full text of the poem shown engraved on pictures 10 and 11 is linked below.

My reflection is taken in the bonnet (hood) of my car. My cars are always a major part of me. Driving is the one thing I can guarantee will relax me.

I love living near Heathrow Airport. Not however as near as these photos taken today which were just off the foot of the runway at as local BP garage. But never again will I get to stand under the Rolls Royce engines of Concorde, so these smaller, and a little quieter engines, will have to suffice.
The planes at this point would have been a little less than 100 feet above me and were landing every 40 seconds.

Whilst not particularly religious I love some religious iconography. I took these photos at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Apart from appreciating their workmanship I am always amazed by how long they have survived. Picture 1 shows a book cover which will celebrate it's 1194th birthday this year.

The Albert Memorial
Even on a cloudy dull day the gold on this monument still shines.
It is the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens, London. It was built after Prince Alberts Death by Queen Victoria, (well, on her say so, she didn't actually build it herself!), as one of the many tributes she paid him. Recently restored, all the gold leaf has been replaced and it shines impressively again as it would have over a hundred years ago when it was built.

The Elements
Cars - New technology or just another elemental rehash.
Air - The Heater Blower. Keeping me warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Earth The Earth Wire. With all the electrics in modern cars keeping oneself attached to the earth is a neccessity.
Fire The Spark Plug. Provides the firepower in the internal combustion engine.
Water Water Reservoir. This one is for windscreen cleaning purposes and provided a more colourful picture than the other source of water, the radiator, in my car.
When the ancient mystics dreamed of harnessing the elements was it the car they were thinking of?

Phototime Tuesday - Transportation

I'm glad I'm not buying the fuel!!
One of the big gripes about London is the traffic congestion. Ther has been a marked poliferation of stretch limos over the last few years, and the streets of London really aren't best suited to them, causing problems when they need to turn corners in what are often relatively small streets.
This however is going way beyond sensible. I understand it is a stretch Hummer, although I will happily be corrected by any of my American visitors. It was filling up with fuel the other day and I had to get a snap. Standing at about 7 feet tall, and extending virtually the full length of the forecourt, this certainly is going to have to restrict some of the routes it takes around town.
